Let's give Peach an Issue!

I have half a spiel in my head about how Princess Peach more often than not tends to devalue herself compared to Mario and Luigi. Because Mario and Luigi are doing all the fighting and the bad guy stomping and the world saving and what is she doing? Sitting kidnapped in a room? Healing them after they risk their lives for her and her kingdom? That’s not as good...that’s not useful. Meanwhile Mario and Luigi are staring at her like pleading-face-emoji because obviously they don’t devalue her for her circumstances outside of her control!

Been thinking about a post I saw a while ago that was like “its really fun being in the Mario fandom because everyone goes crazy about Mario and Luigi platonically even more than they would a romantic ship!” and everyone else was like “yeah!!! its so great how people are going crazy about platonic bonds and getting excited about it and making all this content and we all love the brothers and its great!” They were taking that statement for the better. But for the worse...by God.

Drifting from Fandom?

You know what's kinda interesting? I've recently noticed that it seems like the moment I realized I was aromantic, my tolerance for romance in fandom just kinda plummeted to 0. Not that it was already declining; the overzealous presence of Klance in the Voltron fandom did a good job of getting me real sick of romance-centric fanfiction in the first place. Not that there weren't some good romance fics, of course - there were some nice ones. But those ones didn’t do what a lot of the others did: warp the character to fit the pairing or romantic tropes. These character assassinations is probably the reason I don’t like romance in fandom that much. I mean, look at TodoDeku and KiriBaku: a lot of it seems…off most of the time because people wanna just check those boxes. Not that there's anything wrong with checking those boxes! But I don’t like those boxes. So.

A History of Blorbos

So the first blorbo I ever had was Brainy Smurf, in 6th grade. I think The Smurfs were my first special interest in general. Recently, I was feeling nostalgic about it and I went through the Smurfs tag on Tumblr recently and also read some fanfic. In doing so, I realized that the way I remember Brainy and the way I write Kamek nowadays are the same ^_^;

Watching a Streamer play M&L:SS and by god there are so many different sprites, just for the Mario Bros alone. The very much streamlined the number of animations for future games, and I'm finding that to be a damn shame. Maybe the new M&L game will go back to that a little *crosses fingers*

Finally caught up with Reincarnated as a Slime! I forgot how delightful that anime was. Made me wanna rewatch it from the beginning because side characters kept appearing and they looked familiar but its been so long since I've watched the earlier seasons that I couldn’t remember what their deal was, lmao. I know some people in the reviews on MAL complained about how much sitting and talking there was but to me that's one of my favorite parts of this anime, tbh. I like watching them make plans to be awesome :)

Been watching a few Minecraft streamers during work and it's kind of made me want to play Minecraft. The thing is that I have played Minecraft before, for about two hours before I got bored. I'm not very creative in the way I think Minecraft wants me to be, and I'm awful at combat XD Turns out the atmosphere's a bit different when playing on Peaceful.

There is an incredibly curious behavior that one of my mutual-in-laws on Tumblr engages in. The behavior is as follows:

See some cool art in their fandom (Super Mario)
Write a reblog-addition related to the art; a cute little sentence or three complimenting and engaging with it.
Write some variation of "what do you guys think?"
Tag 20-ish of the people they interact with/have interacted with them relatively frequently in their fandom circle in a big tag block.
Hit post
Repeat 6-8 times a day, approximately

I got added to this tag block recently (presumably because I interacted with some fic posts of theirs a few months ago) and it's been…interesting. I'm not mad or anything; I've got an extremely vague barely-qualifies-as-annoyance about it at worst. And honestly at this point I'm afraid saying something to them about will cause them to stop doing it, and that would be weirder than continuing, tbh. It's their harmless little Tumblr quirk; I don’t wanna be the one to rain on that parade! It's cute! But also what on earth is this person trying to emulate/accomplish with this, I wonder?

I have cousins and they're weird

So a couple of weeks ago, one of my cousins was bugging my mom because she wanted to chat with me, and in turn my mom was bugging me to message her. I didn't really want to, because I'd hardly even met this cousin (and, as I found out later, she's literally a decade younger than me), but I figured we'd message each other small talk for a week and then it'd peter out. She was still messaging me daily, though. One time I got busy with work and forgot to text her, and she went right back to badgering my mom about where I'd gone. It was ridiculous! Apparently she'd thought I was ignoring her or something, even though, again, it'd only been a day.

Bowser is very much used to Kamek grumbling under his breath about the amount of work he has to do, work that Bowser gives him more often than not. But Kamek always pulls through with good results, so Bowser never pays said complaining any mind. Maybe he should have been doing so, instead of taking Kamek’s efforts for granted.
