I went and took advantage of Crunchyroll's Ani-MAY sale so now I have a functioning Crunchyroll account for the first time in forever, haha. I decided to catch up on season 4 of That TIme I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, and then I binged Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill because that one's been on my list for a while.

And I really liked Campfire Cooking! It's very sweet and wholesome. I really love Sui because its cute and loves to kill things, and also that uncle conversation it had with Mukoda and Fel made me go 'oh, i hope there's shipfic with the main guy and the wolf' and then I went on AO3 and there was the shipfic on the front page and I love a fandom that knows exactly what it's supposed to be doing, lmao.

This is probably because I binged it all within the span of two days, but the anime definitely got really same-y by the end, ha. I started fastforwarding through the cooking parts 💀 I think personally I'd like the anime even better if there was a little crunch to it to really bring it home; in its absence I started to get low-key freaked out by the housewife-ification of Mukoda, for real. Someone save him, please XD Even if it's just like, an episode where he gets burnt out for a while or something, and then everyone else tries to cook him something for a change, and they bungle it real bad, but he eats the results anyway and cries about the thoughtfulness of it all and etc, etc, etc, you know? It doesn't have to be much. He could even miss home for like 5 seconds!

I don't really begrudge the anime for any of that, though. It wants good, light-hearted fun with tasty food and it certainly delivers on that front! And I really appreciated that!

(I could wholly do without the deity interludes, though; they're so useless and the comic relief doesn't land in the slightest. I'm glad season 2 had way less of them, lmao)

Anyway, between this and Reincarnated as a Slime I'm finding that I really like the kinds of shows that have the protagonist wandering around being no-strings-attached kind to people. And then that kindness comes back three-fold because of course it does! That's how kindness should be! It's great.

EDIT: I also got to watch Parallel World Pharmacy today and it was lovely! Definitely has the at least little bit of angst I'd wanted, haha. I am kind of obsessed with the boss battle at the end, though. Like, we already have the potential Black Death epidemic looming over everyone for our epic tension-filled 3rd act, I'm not sure we needed an evil spirit skeleton man running around, too. One that mostly failed at being a foil to the main protagonist, no less. Oh, well. The main character flies on a broomstick magic wand. It was really cool for no reason at all and he only did it like twice. He's also actively avoiding overworking himself because that's how he died the first time, and his new sister reminds him of his old sister who died from illness and is the main reason he studied medicine. And the Queen thinks he's neat!
