More reminiscing, with fanfic this time

mrsluigivargasSo in a fit of nostalgia for my 6th grade interests I went and perused the Smurfs fanfic archives on FF.net and AO3 last week. So uh… here are the ones I liked the most! (Can you tell who my favorite characters were/are?)

Out of Silence by That Buggy Girl - Clumsy & Brainy; Gen; K - "Brainy…" Clumsy frowned thoughtfully at the other Smurf's back, "That's not any different from normal. No one ever listens to you."
I haven't watched any of the live action movies (I won't.) but this was a very cute post-first-movie character moment!
Rainy Days by ScarlettFox - Brainy, Clumsy, Smurfette, Papa Smurf; Gen; G - In the episode “Essence of Brainy” in the 80s cartoon, the smurfs at first thought that this “new Brainy” sapped of his "essence" was preferable to the old one. Then they get bored and decide they want the old version back.
They never ask him what he wants.
Rainy is cute~! Also it turns out this is some sort of Brainy Smurf character study in disguise, which was fun.
The Least I Can Do by Butterfrogmantis - Clumsy/Hefty, Clumsy & Brainy; M/M; G - Previously-single-dad Clumsy has been working himself to the bone for the past few months, and this along with some new insecurities have been getting to him. It boils over when his two young Smurflings suddenly fall ill, leaving their father to question if he’s been doing anything right. Concerned for the Smurf’s mental and physical wellbeing, Handy decides what Clumsy needs is a relaxing day at the beach. Which would be great … if Clumsy wasn't afraid of the ocean.
The way this author writes Clumsy is *chef's kiss*. Also their art is very very cute and friend-shaped~
Also an honorable mention goes to this fic:
The Smurfette Villiage by LadyRaven-321 - Hefty/OC; M/F; K+ - The Smurf dam bursts one stormy night, and Hefty Smurf is swept away. He drifts out to sea, and in an ironic twist, eventually ends up on a distance shore near a village of Smurfettes.
I remember reading this one and some of the other ones this author wrote in this little universe when I was younger, and it was definitely a standout. So much so that the fact that there's an actual, canon "Smurfette Village" now is really weird, haha. What do you mean they aren't all just genderswaps of each other (^^ゞ? The fic is just kinda mediocre looking back on it though. I am once again fascinated by the amount of romance I used to tolerate in fanfiction compared to nowadays (I don’t tolerate much romance in fanfiction nowadays).

- Complicated Creation - Clumsy was always there for him. Even in a sudden bout of wavering self-confidence.
- Heart's a Mess - In attempts to adjust to this new mindset, Brainy doesn't know what hit him. Only that it's comfortable to be around Clumsy. Though, he doesn't really get that, either.
