Of all the things to worry about in relation to being kidnapped by Bowser, the issue of trying not to act like a complete disaster around a girl she had a thing for wasn't something Peach expected to add to that list.

This fic has such a different shape to it than when I’d first envisioned it in mid-2022…
I had been inspired by a picture someone posted on Tumblr. It was a very cute picture of Mario and Luigi cuddled together sleeping. I was going to reblog it, but that’s when I noticed it had one of those ugly “DON’T TAG AS SHIP” banners, and then I got sour. Especially because it was such a cute picture! But no, I didn’t want a banner like that on my blog. So I decided that I would write Mario and Luigi being cute and cuddling up to each other while they slept so I could have that concept on my blog without that stupid little added sentiment. So I shaped the idea, and ended up with a side pairing of Pauline and Peach because I’d hinted at that in a previous fic of mine and thought it was a fun concept. What ended up happening as I wrote this fic out for real is that the Peach/Pauline ship became more center stage, while the bros took more of a backseat. I’m not complaining, though. This was fun to write! Peach deserves to be an unwitting disaster once in a while; it's good for her in the long-term, I’m sure.
